Kovyr Proof · Founding pilot open

Your WISP says your computers are protected. Kovyr Proof checks.

For tax, accounting and bookkeeping offices. A small, read-only program on each Windows computer checks every 15 minutes that your antivirus, disk encryption and firewall are on, and watches for ransomware. If your protection gets switched off or ransomware is suspected, you get an email that says what to do.

$149/mo for the first 10 offices · Windows computers only, for now

Writing the plan down was the easy part.

Your WISP says your computers are encrypted and protected. It can’t tell you the day that stops being true.

  • Your insurer asks

“Is every laptop encrypted? Is antivirus on everywhere?”

You tick yes and sign. You want that answer to be true on the day you sign it.

  • A laptop goes missing

    “Was it encrypted?”

On that day you want to know the answer, not guess it.

  • Before ransomware strikes

    Antivirus gets switched off first.

Attackers often turn security software off before they encrypt files. Kovyr Proof treats that silence as the alarm.

What it checks, every 15 minutes

Kovyr Proof starts with the Kovyr Protection Alarm on each office Windows computer. It uses the protection you already have.

  • Antivirus or EDR running

Microsoft Defender, or the antivirus or EDR you already use, is running and hasn’t been switched off or tampered with.

  • Disk encryption

BitLocker is on for each computer’s main drive. If a laptop goes missing, that’s the first question.

  • Firewall

Windows Firewall is on for all three of its network profiles.

  • Vulnerable-driver blocklist

Windows’ blocklist of drivers with known security holes is on. Attackers load those drivers to switch security software off.

  • Ransomware tripwire

Watches each user’s Desktop and Documents for the mass renaming ransomware causes. It only reports: it never stops a program or touches a file.

  • Signed check-ins

Each computer sends a signed check-in every 15 minutes (less often on battery). A computer that goes quiet gets noticed.

When you hear from us

Only when something needs you. Every email says which computer, when, and what to do yourself.

  • Possible ransomware

    An email within minutes

Many files renamed at once on the Desktop or in Documents, or new files that look like ransom notes.

  • Protection switched off

An email if it’s still off at the next check-in

Antivirus, EDR, tamper protection or the firewall. Waiting one check-in means a blip during a Windows update emails nobody.

  • A computer goes quiet

Listed in a 7am morning email (Mountain time)

Sent only on days when something needs a look: a computer with no check-in for over a day, reports that never arrived, or an alert that’s still open.

Email to the office owner

Sample

URGENT: possible ransomware on Front desk PC

The Kovyr Protection Alarm on Front desk PC saw file activity that looks like ransomware.

What to do now:

  1. Disconnect Front desk PC from the network: unplug its cable and turn off its Wi-Fi.
  2. Don’t turn it off or restart it.
  3. Call your IT provider and tell them it may have ransomware.

Kovyr is not a 24/7 response service. This is an automatic alert.

Sample for a fictional office, shortened from the real email.

Straight talk: these are automatic emails, not a response team. Kovyr is not a 24/7 response service. Nobody at Kovyr watches around the clock or acts on an alert for you. Each email tells you what to do yourself, and your IT provider is the one to call.

A record you can show, not just a promise

The point of Kovyr Proof is evidence: what was on, on which computer, and when.

Signed check-ins

Working now

Every check-in is signed on the computer and checked by Kovyr’s servers before it counts. If one goes missing, arrives out of order or has been altered, that shows up as a gap, not as a quiet day.

Proof Packs

Being built

A one-page summary of which protections were on, on which computers and when, to hand to an insurer or a client. They’ll be able to check it with a free verifier, without having to trust us. Founding offices get them first.

What a Proof Pack will prove, and what it won’t: which protections were measurably on, at the times they were checked. Not that your firm can’t be breached.

Built to be safe on your computers

  • Read-only. It doesn’t change settings, delete files, stop programs or take commands from our servers.
  • No client data. Check-ins carry yes/no answers, counts and times. Never file names, documents, emails or client information. Your alert emails name the computer, using the name you choose for it.
  • Not another antivirus. Keep the protection you have. Kovyr Proof checks that it stays on.
  • Light. In our Windows tests it used well under 1% of the processor and about 20 MB of memory.
  • Windows only, for now. Setup is hands-on during the pilot: Kendall enrolls each computer with you.

Straight answers

Does this make my firm FTC compliant?
No product can, and we won’t claim it. The FTC Safeguards Rule asks you to run your security program, not only write it down. Kovyr Proof helps with one part of that: checking that key protections on your computers stay on, and keeping a record. It isn’t legal advice or a certification, and the IRS doesn’t endorse any vendor, including us.
Is someone watching my computers around the clock?
No. Alerts are automatic emails to the office owner, and each one says what to do yourself. Kovyr is not a 24/7 response service, and nobody at Kovyr will act on an alert for you.
Does it replace my antivirus?
No. It checks that your antivirus or EDR stays on and watches for ransomware-style file activity. It reports; it doesn’t block or remove anything.
We have an IT provider. Is this for us?
Yes. It works alongside them: the alerts tell you to call them, and the check-ins show whether the protections they set up stayed on.
Will it lower my insurance premium?
We can’t promise that. It gives you evidence for the questions insurers ask; what an insurer does with it is up to the insurer.
What isn’t built yet?
Proof Packs are being built now. Not built yet, and not part of the price today: Microsoft 365 checks, a finder for client Social Security and card numbers left in documents, a “Verified” badge for your website, and Mac support. Founding offices help decide what comes first, and we won’t list anything as included until it works.
